ABOUT THE PRODUCTION

In Masa, playwright Salomón Maya crafts a theatrical meditation on identity, inheritance, and the quiet labor of becoming. Turning a staple of Latin American life into a powerful metaphor for identity and survival, the bold and evocative work centers around the elemental act of making masa—corn ground, mixed, and remade—and explores what it means to carry culture in the body, in the hands, and across generations. A heartfelt exploration of loss, resilience, and renewal, Masa is a tribute to the power of food, family, and the enduring bonds that help us rise again—and a celebration of resilience, transformation, and the stories we hold. It speaks to anyone who has ever questioned where they come from—or who they are becoming.
